Arsenal dealt massive blow as target to sign for EPL rivals

The Premier League giants Arsenal target West Brom Albion centre-back Jonny Evans is set to snub a switch to the club in order to land for Manchester City.

According to British national daily tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror, Evans is not interested in signing for The Gunners if he leaves West Brom Albion upcoming summer transfer window.

The Baggies look set for relegation to the Championship, with their drop to the second rank expecting to be official in the upcoming few weeks.

Because of a clause in his current deal, relegation would activate his release (buy-out) clause. He will be allowed to depart from the club for £3m, which has given rise interest from Arsenal.

The report states that he is holding out on the move to The Citizens, although it does not state whether or not Premier League giants remain keen on the central defender.

The Gunners had an offer for Jonny Evans turned down in the January transfer window by West Brom Albion, who now look set to lose their key man for significantly less than what north London club offered.
