Chelsea news round-up: prodigy still on radar, key man could leave, goalkeeper targeted

Chelsea still interested in landing Serie A giants sensation

Chelsea are said to be keeping a close eye on Napoli strong midfielder Amadou Diawara with speculations over the long-term future of France international N’Golo Kante.

Reports from Paris United in France have stated that the Partenopei star is one of the players the Blues could swoop for this summer if Paris Saint-Germain approach Chelsea for Kante.

Amadou becomes the latest Napoli player to be connected with a move to Stamford Bridge, with Maurizio Sarri the Blues management’s preferred choice to substitute Antonio Conte.

The talented midfielder is very much seen as one for the future in the Italian club, having only played in a rotational role under Maurizio last season.

Gonzalo Higuain, Piotr Zielinski, Kalidou Koulibaly and Elseid Hysaj have all been connected with a move to Stamford Bridge with reports suggesting a potential deal to bring Sarri to the west London is picking up the pace once again.

There had been speculations that a deal to hire Maurizio had fallen through, with his departure from Napoli complicating the process, all while Antonio Conte remains in charge at the Blues.

European giants step up pursuit of Chelsea £120,000-a-week star

The Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique has reportedly held negotiations with N’Golo Kante’s representative.

Reports in France from Paris United state that Henrique held meeting with Karim Douis, the player’s entourage to discuss his future at the Blues.

The Ligue 1 side have been long-term fans of Kante and have been connected with a move for the player on several times in the past.

France international N’Golo Kante has previously reiterated his will to remain at Chelsea, having only joined the west London club back in 2016 from the Premier League side Leicester City.

Although, Kante has been one of the systematic names to be linked with transfers away from Stamford Bridge.

With the Blues missing out on Champions League football in the new campaign, the Blues could be forced to sell a host of first-team players over the transfer market.

The report states that Napoli’s talented midfielder Amadou Diawara and Amiens’ technically gifted star Tanguy Ndombele are both being monitored by the Blues, while OGC Nice’s defensive midfielder Jean Michael Seri remains a summer target for the club.

Chelsea earmark European giants 29-year-old star as summer target

Chelsea are worried about the future of Belgian star Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge, amidst continued connections with La Liga and UCL giants Real Madrid, and have pinpointed targets on the market as possible replacements.

Amongst those connected with a move to the west London side is Barcelona stopper Jasper Cillessen, who has remained substitute to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen in recent seasons and is said by the Spanish nationwide daily sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo to be seriously thinking about his future.

Jasper, also a reported goal for defeated Champions League finalists Liverpool, is a player that Blaugrana would prefer to keep but the La Liga giants are eyeing replacements for the 29-year-old star in case he seeks a transfer.

Barcelona are said to have scouted Germany’s top flight for replacements, eyeing Wolfsburg’s Belgian ‘keeper Koen Costeels, relegated Koln’s goalkeeper Timo Horn and Werder Bremen’s 26-year-old Jiri Pavlenka, all of whom are younger than Jasper Cillessen.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen, still just 26-year-old, has plenty of years ahead of him but Blaugrana are looking to provide the Germany international with serious rivalry for his starting berth.
