Chelsea trying to steal march on Premier League rivals for No.8 midfielder

The Premier League giants Chelsea have made ‘a late bid’ to hijack Napoli midfielder Jorginho’s move to Premier League giants Manchester City, according to reports from the British and Italian media.

Jorginho has already agreed to contract terms with the Citizens and is apparently interested in making a switch to the Etihad, but no fee has been agreed between Manchester City and Napoli at this time.

The west London club have reportedly made a late move to sign the Italian star and with Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri set to be named as the club’s new boss this week, they are hoping that the 26-year-old Italo-Brazilian will decide that a move to Stamford Bridge is the better variant for him at this stage of his professional career.

Jorginho was left out of the Pertenopei squad for their pre-campaign training programme, with many observers suggesting that a summer deal had already been agreed between the Italian club and Premier League side, but it becomes visible that such an agreement has not been reached and as such, the Blues have decided to jump in.
