Liverpool news round-up: club on alert, £22.5m-rated star on radar, goalkeeper to arrive

Liverpool on alert as French giants ready to sell 22-year-old star

AS Monaco appear to have opened the door for teams to bid for winger Thomas Lemar upcoming summer transfer window.

Lemar has frequently been linked with a transfer away from the French club, with both Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool heavily connected with approaches for the 22-year-old.

The Gunners reportedly submitted a £92 million bid for Thomas in January, as they tried to secure a substitution for Alexis Sanchez, who at the time was being strongly linked with Manchester City.

After all, Lemar turned the move down, and rumours have since raged regarding the winger’s future.

AS Monaco’s vice-president, Vadim Vasiley spoke to French football programme Telefoot regarding summer transfer plans and become visible to have told any possible suitors that they can make a bid once the window reopens in summer.

“A few hours after the match against Paris is not the time to talk about the transfer window,” he said. “But good luck to those who want him. He’s worth a lot.”

The current season, in all competitions Thomas Lemar has made 33 appearances, netted 3 goals and provided 8 assists so far.

Serie A £22.5m-rated star targeted by Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp is looking at the chance of signing Napoli creative midfielder Piotr Zielinski in the summer transfer window.

The Liverpool coach is a keen fan of the Polish international, who is under contract with Italian giants until 2021.

According to the Daily Express, Klopp has been keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old since Piotr was on loan at Empoli three years ago.

The switch would likely cost The Reds upwards of £40 million as Piotr has been in good form for Napoli this season, netting seven goals for the side that now lie second in the table.

Partenopei look like missing out on the trophy as they trail leaders The Old Lady by six points with six matches to go.

Meantime Liverpool are in the semi-finals of the Champions League while sitting third in the Premier League too, and this could sway Piotr into wanting a transfer away from Italy.

Jurgen Klopp is known to be looking at strengthening his squad to challenge Manchester City for the trophy next season, and Piotr Zielinski could well be on his way to Anfield.

Liverpool keen on European giants 28-year-old star

Liverpool are battling two European giants to land Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.

The Dutchman has had to play second fiddle to No.1 shot-stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen since coming at the club in 2016.

Jasper is still classed as the Netherlands’ first-choice shot-stopper, but the 28-year-old has had to settle for Copa del Rey matches only in the past two campaigns.

And it becomes visible the goalkeeper is drawing interest ahead of the transfer window reopens this summer.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Napoli, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid are all in the hunt for Jasper, who is under contract at the Camp Nou until 2021.

The one-time Ajax star has a buy-out clause of €60m (£51.9m) which could tempt a host of clubs. Liverpool have been on the observation post for a new goalkeeper in the latest years.

Both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have question marks surrounding their ability, in spite of the former enjoying a rich vein of form in the latest months.

Jurgen Klopp has a transfer battle chest to spend upcoming summer after the departure of Brazilian Philippe Coutinho in January.
