Man United £75,000-a-week defender on brink of leaving Red Devils

Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement with Eredivisie giants Ajax over the return of Daley Blind, four seasons after his move from the Dutch club.

The 28-year-old star has made 141 matches for the Red Devils, winning League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League trophy throughout his time with the Premier League giants.

In turn, it can be considered a successful period to an extent, but with his influence and presence in the line-up gradually waning over the last three campaigns, he is said to be close to completing a return to Ajax.

According to the largest Dutch daily newspaper De Telegraaf, developments in his departure from Old Trafford are expected in the next days as Ajax are said to want it sorted before their Champions League commitments start and before the Red Devils squad fly out for their pre-season tour.

After making 56 matches in the 2015/16 term, Blind featured in 39 appearances the following year before making just 17 outings previous season with competition and fitness for places raising question marks over his game time under Jose Mourinho.
