Man United made contact about signing Serie A €110,000-a-week star

Manchester United have made official contact to probe the chance of signing AC Milan and Italy central defender Leonardo Bonucci in the summer transfer market.

Jose Mourinho wants to add world-class defender into his backline as Portuguese manager plots a widespread overhaul of his defence in spite of a satisfactory defensive record in the just finished Premier League campaign.

And it has been stated that the Manchester United manager has pinpointed Bonucci as the man who could provide leadership to his defensive line in the next season.

According to the Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport, Manchester United have made initial contact to probe whether AC Milan are ready to listen to offers for the centre-back.

Leonardo, who recently turned 31, joined AC Milan from Juventus last summer in spite of heavy interest from clubs across the continent as he wanted to stay in Italy because of personal reasons.

Although, there are suggestions that Italian defender could consider leaving the Serie A this time around, especially after Rossoneri failed to qualify for the Champions League.

This season, in all competitions, Leonardo Bonucci has made 50 appearances, netted 2 goals and provided 1 assist.
