Man United to pull out of European giants 29-year-old star deal

Manchester United scouts are getting ready to pull the plug on the club’s strong interest in league rivals Tottenham Hotspur central defender Toby Alderweireld.

The regional daily newspaper The Manchester Evening News reports that the Red Devils’ scouts are now looking at other summer targets.

Those behind the scenes at Old Trafford are reportedly not totally convinced from what they have seen of the Belgian centre-back.

Toby Alderweireld has long been connected with a move to Manchester United and was widely expected to depart from the Spurs this summer.

The Red Devils are now expected to move on to other transfer goals and the report states that long-term Mourinho target La Liga giants Real Madrid central defender Raphael Varane is an option. The German sides Bayern Munich’s German star Jerome Boateng is also being considered.

Jose Mourinho has been a fan of Raphael Varane since his time with Los Blancos and has previously attempted to bring him to Old Trafford.

Serie A trio Milan Skriniar, Kalidou Koulibaly and Alessio Romagnoli are also on the list of targets pinpointed by the club.
