£110,000-a-week Chelsea defender will miss Champions League clash

The London giants have revealed on the club’s official website that defender Thiago Silva has been left out of their squad for tomorrow’s clash with Krasnodar. Thiago Silva was one of Blues star performers during their 0-0 draw with Man United at the weekend, having also been involved in a 0-0 draw against Sevilla midweek.

With Frank Lampard having never been involved in a 0-0 as Chelsea boss before those two fixtures, he will probably take that, even if it’s just two points gained from two fixtures.

Thiago has been immense recently for Chelsea, but as the Blues report on their official website, he has not travelled with the squad to face Krasnodar in the UCL tomorrow.

That could provide a chance for Antonio Rudiger to force his way back into Frank Lampard’s thinking. The German was named on the bench at Man United at the weekend, having previously been out in the cold.

Chelsea supporters will surely welcome another defensive option in their squad as it would be a big ask for Thiago to perform at a high-level week in, week out. Antonio Rudiger could surely also be an improvement on unconvincing performers like Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori.
