France international Olivier Giroud will hold talks with Chelsea’s management over the possibility of extending his current contract with the club, the local free daily newspaper The London Evening Standard reports.
Giroud sealed a move to the Blues from Premier League and city rivals Arsenal for £18 million in January, signing only an initial one-and-a-half year deal.
Marseilles had shown strong interest in the French star in January and having missed out on the 31-year-old striker’s signature then, were hopeful that they would be able to bring Giroud to the club this summer.
However, Olivier is wanting to remain at the west London club and extend his stay with the Blues.
Giroud was questioned if he ever considered joining the Ligue 1 side Marseille.
“No, I am happy here at Chelsea. I just arrived a few months ago and am just starting to settle well.”
“I still have one year (of my contract) to go with Chelsea, plus maybe another one. I’m going to discuss that with the club at the right time. There is no rush” – said World Cup winner forward.
