£40.5m-rated star set to put pen to paper on new deal with Arsenal

Arsenal central midfielder Aaron Ramsey is close to signing a fresh contract with the Gunners, according to United Kingdom’s highest circulation newspaper the Metro.

The 27-year-old Wales international’s current contract with the north London side runs out next summer and Arsenal risk losing the key man on a free transfer next.

Chelsea were interested in signing the midfielder before deadline day, with the Blues were prepared to spend £35 million on the star.

However, Unai Emery’s side are now believed to be close to agreeing to personal terms with Ramsey to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium.

New Arsenal manager Unai Emery spoke about Aaron’s contract situation the previous month, stating that he both hopes and believes that the star will remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

“Aaron is an important player for us, and the contract is one thing for the club and the player.”

“For me, I want him to stay with us, to work with us, to give the team the big performance. I think he is going to stay here with us.” – said Spaniard.
