Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was considering a switch to Real Madrid before Jose Mourinho was sacked at The Theatre of Dreams, according to a report.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has helped revive Englishman’s career since taking charge at the Old Trafford and the 21-year-old has netted six times in nine appearances under the Norwegian tactician.
That’s in stark contrast to the struggles he endured under Jose earlier in the season when he netted just four times in 20 appearances under the Portuguese coach.
Mourinho favoured Romelu Lukaku in a central position and often pushed Marcus out onto the left-wing, in a role that he performed reluctantly.
In spite of his struggles, Marcus’ quality was still clear and La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid were alerted to him after his sensational performance for England in a 3-2 win against Spain.
The star has been at Manchester United since the age of eight but he considered depart from his boyhood club for Los Blancos in a significant indication of his unhappiness under Jose according to the Sun.
However, Ole’s arrival has been a blessing for Rashford and the striker is now minded to stay at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have sensed Rashford’s new-found happiness under Solskjaer and are keen to capitalise on it by getting him to pen a new long-term deal at the club.
