Manchester United and Chelsea have both been connected with a swoop for Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi for months, and the duo could reportedly be given a transfer boost for the deadly striker.
As noted by The Daily Express, the Argentine star is said to be on the Red Devils’ list of transfer targets this summer window, while The Sun add that Mauro has also been targeted by the Blues.
However, apparently after the latter were given a transfer ban for two windows the previous week, as reported by BBC Sport, and it remains to be seen whether or not the club are able to plot a successful appeal to allow the Blues to continue their pursuit in the summer window.
Icardi’s position at Inter Milan has been deteriorating quickly after he was taken of the captaincy and has been left out of the last three game-day squads, albeit it has been officially noted by the club that it is because of injury woes.
However, as reported by football news website Calciomercato.com, via the newspaper of La Repubblica, it’s now suggested that Mauro is expected to depart from Nerazzurri this summer, and if he were to land a contract extension before then as planned, it would reduce his exit clause from €110m to €80m.
That will certainly be music to the ears of the Blues and the Red Devils if they are to launch an offer to sign the 26-year-old star this summer, as although Icardi is going through a difficult time currently which includes a seven-match goal drought in Serie A.
