Arsenal head-coach Mikel Arteta bemoaned his team’s recent struggles due to the injuries as David Luiz and Bukayo Saka were both forced out from the pitch after the defeat with Leicester City last night.
The North London club were beaten 1-0 at home by the Foxes as England international forward, Jamie Vardy came off the bench to score a late winner on a demoralising evening for the north London club.
After dominating the first half, Brazilian centre-back David Luiz had to be replaced on 49 minutes, with German centre-back, Shkodran Mustafi coming on, and Saka came off for Nicolas Pepe on 65 minutes.
Mikel Arteta was not certain what the problem was with Saka after the defeat and plans to assess David Luiz ahead of the crunch Premier League games with the Red Devils on Sunday.
‘I don’t know,’ the Spanish boss said of the injured pair. ‘We’ve lost a few players in the last week or so.
‘David had a muscular problem and he couldn’t carry on – we’ll have to assess him in the next 48 hours.’
Luiz’s injury will be especially worrying for Arteta, as the Gunners are struggling at the defensive end.
Calum Chambers, Pablo Mari and Rob Holding are all out and not set to make a return for at least three more weeks.
Willian also missed the loss to Leicester following to a calf problem and Gabriel Martinelli stays out with a serious knee injury.
