Arsenal have reportedly ruled out the prospect of loaning out any of their young stars to EFL Championship sides this January transfer market, football news website football.london exclusively reports.
Gunners coach Unai Emery had previously claimed that he would not allow talented young attacker Emile Smith Rowe to depart the club on loan this month, and he is now believed to have added Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah to that list.
Willock and Nketiah both started in the Gunners’ 3-0 FA Cup third round win over League One Blackpool, with the former having been a regular in the Spanish tactician’s match-day squad this season.
Both young prospects are being targeted by several EFL Championship sides, with Joe also being chased by League One’s Sunderland.
The 19-year-old Willock scored twice in the FA Cup win at Blackpool and has been making an impression for Freddie Ljungberg’s Under-23 side.
Both youngsters could be utilised further in the Europa League and FA Cup competitions this term as Emery looks to rotate his squad and attempt and blend in some of the club’s youth players.
