Arsenal enter the battle to sign 20-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder

Brighton have responded to Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea’s interest in Moises Caicedo by planning deal negotiations with the midfielder. The Seagulls signed Ecuador international from Independiente del Valle in winter 2021 but loaned the midfielder to Belgian club Beerschot later that year.

Since returning to the south coast earlier in the summer, Moises has established himself as a crucial member of the Seagulls squad, starting all six of the club’s PL games so far this campaign. Caicedo’s form has attracted interest from several big clubs, with Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea all said to be monitoring his situation.

The Gunners looked into signing a new midfielder over the summer and saw many bids for Douglas Luiz rejected by Aston Villa. While the Seagulls sold Cucurella to Chelsea and Bissouma to Tottenham, they are reluctant to lose the 20-year-old midfielder and are now planning to sit down with the footballer to discuss a new contract.

The Seagulls are set to reward the Ecuadorian midfielder with a new deal that will bring his wages closer in line with their first-team regulars. Graham Potter was asked about the interest in the Ecuadorian during his final days at Amex Stadium and said: ‘‘In football, you never know, but we are quite calm and confident of keeping him.’’

‘‘You’d probably get his boots for that from the chairman, maybe! £100m? They can try. It doesn’t surprise me that people are looking at him because he is playing at a fantastic level.’’
