The Premier League side Arsenal have exercised an option in the Spanish defender Nacho Monreal’s deal to extend his contract by a further year, the reports say.
According to a sports television channel ESPN, via The Mirror, the Gunners have triggered the extension and Spaniard is now contracted until June of 2020.
His previous contract was due to expire at the end of the campaign, but Unai Emery is keen to keep the compatriot at The Emirates Stadium.
Nacho has struggled with injuries at the time this campaign but has proven himself to be an important player for Arsenal over the years.
The versatile defender has made over 200 matches for Arsenal since joining the club from the La Liga outfit Malaga back in 2012.
In his time at the North London, he has won three Community Shields and three FA Cups, but has not managed to mount a successful trophy challenge.
The report states that one more Gunners full-back, Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner also has a one-year extension written into his contract, but Arsenal’s management are yet to decide on his future.
