Arsenal forced to abandon pursuit of 21-year-old forward and set sights on Ligue 1 star

The London-based outfit Arsenal are reportedly interested in landing LOSC Lille winger Nicolas Pépé, according to a report from football news Italian website

The EPL giants had initially taken a serious liking to AS Roma wide-man Cengiz Ünder but found the Italian club reluctant to allow the young Turk to depart.

Prepared to cough up in excess of €30m, it remains to be seen whether the club’s management could snap up Pépé for a price in that region.

The 23-year-old star has been playing out of his skin in Ligue 1 thus far this season, netting 12 goals and recording five assists in 19 matches.

A right winger by trade, the Ivory Coast international star could be right at home as part of a Gunners front three with Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and French striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The forward has netted 25 goals in 54 appearances for LOSC Lille and is one of the most in-demand players in Europe.

Nicolas is not the only winger from Ligue 1, who is being tracked by Unai Emery’s side as the club are also pursuing a potential deal to land Rennais youngster Ismaila Sarr.
