Arsenal in the battle for €20m-rated Scottish Premiership striker

The London giants are reportedly ready to rival Leicester City for the possible summer transfer of Celtic centre-forward Odsonne Edouard. The 23-year-old striker has shone during his time in Scotland and is now expected to earn a big move to the PL or another more competitive league before too long.

Reports also name Roma as being among Odsonne’s admirers, but it could be an interesting battle between Gunners and Leicester for his signature. Arsenal could do with more firepower up front after a difficult campaign, with Edouard likely to be an upgrade on Lacazette, while even Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has not been at his best.

The Foxes may be a more tempting destination at the moment, however, with Brendan Rodgers’ side firmly in the race for a top four spot this campaign. The French defender could be the perfect long-term successor to the ageing Jamie Vardy at the King Power Stadium, and he’d surely fit in well in Rodgers’ style of football.

It’s previously been suggested that Celtic could let Odsonne go for nearly £30m. Alexandre Lacazette has 59 goals in 157 matches for the Gunners, with the Frenchman never quite looking as prolific as he did during his days in Ligue 1.
