Everton have reportedly been in talks with Barcelona over a potential deal for Arsenal-linked defender Samuel Umtiti before the end of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old centre-back who has two years left to run on his current deal at Camp Nou, has been heavily linked with a move away from Spanish giants this summer amid the club’s financial issues.
Frenchman was not in the team for his side’s first La Liga game of the new campaign last weekend, and it does not appear that he is in the plans of Ronald Koeman this term.
According to The Express, Everton have made an enquiry for the Frenchman in the hope of bringing him to Goodison Park before the end of the summer transfer window that ends on August 31.
The report suggests that Frenchman is one of a number of first-team players that the Catalan outfit are attempting to offload before the end of the transfer window.
The 27-year-old star, who has also previously been rumoured with Arsenal and Man Utd, has managed to found back of the net twice in 132 games for Barcelona since arriving from Ligue 1 giants Lyon in July 2016.
