Arsenal keen on landing highly-rated goalkeeper but must fight for his services

Arsenal are being connected with a January move to secure the signature of Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman but will face stiff competition from the EFL Championship outfit Leeds United and the Scottish club Celtic.

According to a report from the British daily tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror, as cited on talkSPORT, all three sides are interested in landing the player during the January transfer market.

Freddie Woodman is highly rated at his club but has failed to break into their senior-team plans despite a number of superb performances.

The England youth international star has been tipped for a big switch from a young age, in spite of the lack of senior appearances.

Leeds are said to have made an approach to sign the star after suffering a goalkeeping crisis at Elland Road, however, new reports reveal they will face rivalry for his signature.

Arsenal only purchased Bernd Leno over the summer but the opportunity to land one of England’s brightest young prospects could be too good to reject for Gunners with Petr Cech reaching the latter stages of his professional career.
