Arsenal news round-up: club in hunt, £58.5m-rated star on radar, midfielder to stay

Arsenal reportedly in hunt for EPL rivals in-demand defender

It has been reported that Premier League giants Arsenal are interested in landing Kenedy from London rivals Chelsea at the end of the campaign when his loan time at St James’ Park ends, according to ESPN.

Kenedy has not been a favourite of Italian manager Antonio Conte and has seriously struggled for game time at The Blues, but one-time Chelsea interim manager Rafa Benitez has given the Brazilian a chance at Newcastle United, loaning him in for the second half of this term.

His impressive displays in a black and white shirt have made him a supporter favourite already to the Toon Army and have also made him one of the first players on the teamsheet.

Kenedy’s three goals and five assists so far for Newcastle along with his incredible displays have already attracted clubs wanting to sign him in on a permanent deal from Stamford Bridge.

Another European giants duo, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have reportedly asked The Blues to keep them updated if there is a chance of bringing him to mainland Europe.

London rivals Spurs have also registered an interest in the Brazilian.

Arsenal in battle with Liverpool for £58.5m-rated prodigy

The Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool both tried to land AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar in the previous transfer window and the pair are reportedly still interested in Monaco winger but they’ll now face rivalry for his signature.

According to an article from James Tucker of British daily broadsheet newspaper The Telegraph, Manchester City are also interested in signing the French international as Pep Guardiola looks to take his team to the next level.

The Citizens have a good relationship with Les Monegasques having signed Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy from them for good money the previous summer and it seems like they’re ready to do business with the French club once again.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions rate Lemar at around £90m which could be a stumbling barrier for all interested parties, but if AS Monaco are willing to hold talks, then all three Premier League clubs will be interested.

It was widely reported that Thomas wanted to join The Reds earlier in the year but The Gunners and Manchester City will be hoping he has a change of heart.

£9m-rated star turned down offers to stay at Arsenal

Arsenal central midfielder Mohamed Elneny has revealed that a host of clubs were interested in landing him before he signed a new deal at the club, as reported by Goal.

Egypt international signed a new long-term deal which has confirmed his future at The Gunners for the foreseeable future and he has become an important member of Arsenal’s squad.

At one stage, it was thought that Elneny would be one of a host of players to depart from Arsenal due to his lack of game time and the general lack of certainty around the club.

Mohamed has spoken about the situation after signing a contract extension at the club:

“There were some clubs interested in me because I was not playing enough games and maybe they thought they could sign me or even have me on loan. I heard about this on the news just like everyone else and I was not interested at all. I spoke with the people here at the club and I told them, ‘I don’t want to leave. I want to fight for my position’”
