Arsenal news round-up: Porto star could arrive, Gunners on alert, new target on radar

Arsenal interested in signing No.8 pacy forward to replace injured Englishman

Arsenal reportedly keen to bring in Algeria international Yacine Brahimi as a replacement for injured Danny Welbeck and they are at the front of the queue to land the Porto attacker, the latest reports say.

Englishman is to bow out of North London as a free agent in the summer transfer window after five years at the Gunners as he has not been offered a new contract.

The search for a new pacy winger is underway and, according to a Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola, Brahimi ticks all the boxes for Arsenal boss Unai Emery.

Arsenal are understood to have just £40 million to spend in the summer, meaning that free agent Yacine Brahimi would be an ideal signing for Unai ahead of his second season in North London.

The Alegria international has netted seven goals in 20 Primeira Liga matches this season and he played a direct part in 16 goals the previous season as Porto finished top of the table.

Serie A giants AC Milan have also been tipped to make a swoop for the 28-year-old when his deal expires in June.

La Liga giants told to secure signature of £180,000-a-week Arsenal forward

Patrick Kluivert believes EPL stars Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marcus Rashford are capable of succeeding Uruguay international Luis Suarez at Barcelona.

Luis has been one of the most deadly strikers in Europe over the past decade, netting 168 goals in 227 appearances for Blaugrana.

Despite the 32-year-old star still being a lethal presence in front of goal, Barcelona are said to be scouring the market for his potential replacement.

And Dutch legend Kluivert believes Manchester United striker Rashford and Arsenal forward Aubameyang are both capable of thriving at the Camp Nou.

England international Rashford has netted 13 goals this season – thriving under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – while Pierre-Emerick has made a bright start to his Arsenal career.

‘I like Marcus Rashford, a lot. It will be really difficult to get him over [to Barcelona],’ Patrick told Sport360.

‘But he is a good player. I don’t see a lot of players who can play in Barcelona. [Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, perhaps he can play.’

‘There is not a lot. Maybe some players who can play in La Liga, young players. But, for me, I think the best one is Marcus Rashford.’

Not Audero: Arsenal in fierce battle with several UCL giants for young goalkeeper

Arsenal are one of several clubs showing an interest in landing Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, the latest reports say.

The Gunners will have German star Bernd Leno as their only senior, experienced, shot-stopper in the summer, after veteran ‘keeper Petr Cech announced that he will be retiring at the end of the campaign.

According to a sports television channel ESPN, via the Metro, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Juventus are all interested in a deal for Henderson.

The 21-year-old star, who named in the League One Team of the Season the previous term, has been a key figure for Sheffield United in the EFL Championship this campaign.

Dean has played every minute of their league campaign to date, with Sheffield United currently sitting third in the standings – three points behind second-placed Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United are said to be determined to keep the star at Old Trafford, though, as they believe Henderson could become their number one in the coming years.

This season, in the youngster, has made 30 appearances, conceded 31 goals and registered 10 clean sheets.
