Arsenal reportedly ready to splash £44m on technically gifted Ligue 1 star

Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly prepared to pay as much as £44 million (€50 million) for highly-rated LOSC Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.

According to an exclusive report from French football programme Telefoot, the Gunners are ready to make the Ivorian star one of the most expensive transfers in their history.

They will need to ward off European competition in the form of the German top flight Bundesliga duo of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in the bid to land the 23-year-old.

The winger netted 13 goals and provided five assists in 36 league outing for LOSC Lille as helped the club escape relegation from the French top flight the previous season.

Nicolas has been in sensational form for his Ligue 1 side this campaign as the technically gifted attacker has scored eight goals and provided seven assists already.

Pepe has emerged as an important player for his country as well. The LOSC Lille star has netted three times for the two-time African champions in nine international appearances.

LOSC Lille signed Nicolas from SCO Angers in the summer transfer window of 2017 for a reported £9 million fee.
