Arsenal renewed negotiations with Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres. The Spanish manager wants to strengthen his defence ahead of 2023/2024. La Liga giants are willing to sell Pau in the summer, setting a price tag of €50m. Arsenal are said to be interested, although face competition for his signature from the likes of Real Madrid and Tottenham.
Torres is currently in the last 18 months of his current deal, meaning the Yellow Submarine aren’t in the best position ahead of the summer transfer window. Pau had wonderful displays throughout the previous year. Torres is also statistically very similar to Josko Gvardiol, meaning he could be an impressive signing at the London club.
Chelsea and Man City have both been linked with the Spanish and the Croatian prospect is the most similar footballer to Pau Torres across Europe’s top leagues, which given how far the RB Leipzig centre-back could go in the game, is certainly not a bad comparison.
