Arsenal started talks with 20-year-old Norwegian midfield star

Arsenal and Man United are among the teams keeping tabs on Sivert Mannsverk. Molde will demand a Norwegian-record sale worth €10m to part ways with the 20-year-old midfielder. Mannsverk is a largely unknown name around Europe, with the midfielder rising through the ranks in Norway.

A native of Ovre Ardal, Sivert passed through the academies of Jotun and Ardalstangen before graduating from the Sogndal youth division. But Norway international has risen in prominence since joining Molde last year. The Norwegian midfielder is now a key figure for Molde and has enjoyed a solid 2022/23 season.

The Norwegian has chipped in with four goals in 40 matches across all tournaments. And Mannsverk’s progress has captured the attention of PL bigwigs Arsenal and Man United. The London giants strengthened the midfield unit by signing Fabio Vieira in the summer transfer window.

But the Spanish manager stays eager to bring in another central midfielder. And with Albert Sambi Lokonga failing to make his mark, it is not surprising why the Gunners will want to delve into the market. Several midfielders, including Ivan Ilic, have thus emerged on the London giants’ radar.

But Mannsverk is also a viable target for Arsenal. However, the Gunners will need to fend off stiff competition from Man United to sign the Norwegian midfield sensation. At €10m, the Norwegian midfielder will be the costliest sale in the country’s history.
