Roma could be reportedly in danger to miss out on signing out on a deal for Switzerland International and Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, as the Italian outfit are not prepared to the asking price of Premier League giants.
The 28-year-old was believed to be on the brink of finalising a move to Italian giants, with the former Gladbach midfielder said to be willing to accept a reduced salary in order to force a transfer away from the Emirates Stadium.
However, according to Il Tempo, ‘everything has stopped’ regarding the talks, as Jose Mourinho’s side have not yet met Arsenal’s price tag for the experienced midfielder.
The report suggests that the North London club are refusing to sell Swiss playmaker for under €20m (£17m), and several other teams are keeping close tabs on his progress.
Xhaka was again a regular for the Gunners during the 2020-21 season, playing 45 games across all competitions, however, he is not believed to be in head coach Mikel Arteta’s plans moving forward.
The midfielder has found the back of the net 13 times and provided 20 assists in 220 games for the North London outfits since arriving from Bundesliga outfits Borussia Monchengladbach back in 2016.
Arsenal meanwhile, planning a move for Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard who has had a loan spell at the Emirates Stadium from Real Madrid last season.
