La Liga giants Barcelona are reportedly set to make offers for Premier League duo Antonio Rudiger and Shkodran Mustafi from Chelsea and Arsenal respectively if they fail in their attempt to secure services of Manchester City centre-back Eric Garcia in the January transfer window.
Ronald Koeman is short of options at the backline as Gerard Pique is likely to be sidelined for several months after picking up a knee ligament injury in a clash against Atletico Madrid earlier in the November.
Mundo Deportivo claims that Garcia, 19, stays the Catalan giants top transfer target, however, the La Liga heavyweights have lined up the out-of-favour Rudiger and Mustafi as possible alternatives when the transfer widow will be re-opened in January.
The Spanish giants failed to agree a deal with the Citizens in the summer as they were unable to raise the reported £9m fee that Pep Guardiola’s team were demanding.
Garcia, who has made five games for the Citizens this season, is out of contract at the Etihad at the end of the 2020-21 season, meaning he would be available to depart from the club on a free transfer.
Rudiger has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge since the last summer, while Mustafi has also out-of-favour at the Emirates Stadium and seeks exit from the club.
