EFL Championship duo Aston Villa and Derby County both want to sign Chelsea young defender Ethan Ampadu on loan in January.
According to an exclusive report from Birmingham Live, Wales international is on the radar of both sides, with Dean Smith and Frank Lampard aiming to strengthen in the new year.
Both clubs tried to land the young Welshman on loan in the summer but Blues refused to let him leave, but they may be willing to let youngster go out on loan for the second half of the campaign.
Ampadu is comfortable playing as a centre-half or as a defensive midfielder and it looks like Aston Villa want to bring him to the club.
Villa manager John Terry will know all about the 18-year-old Ethan’s talent, as will those who’ve watched him develop at the West London. Of course, the same could also be said of Derby manager Frank Lampard.
Villa already have Tammy Abraham on loan from Blues whilst Derby have Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount, so both clubs understand the value of doing business with Maurizio Sarri’s side in the loan market.
