Chelsea were offered the chance to secure the services of PSG centre-back Thilo Kehrer. However, the Blues held no interest in Germany international. The 25-year-old defender has been with the Parisians since 2018 when he joined from boyhood team Schalke.
A versatile operator, the German defender has played 128 games for the Parisians so far, mostly at centre-back or right-back. The former Schalke centre-back has not exactly been a regular in the side for PSG and started only 16 Ligue 1 games last campaign.
With the German’s deal expiring next year and the Parisians looking to bring in new centre-backs this summer, the defender has become an expendable member of the squad, with PSG set to sell him. In their efforts to offload Kehrer, it looks that the Parisians offered the defender to Chelsea.
It is no secret that the Blues are in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer. Chelsea have lost Rudiger and Christensen and could see Azpilicueta depart Chelsea as well. So, even though Koulibaly has arrived, Chelsea want at least one more centre-back.
Hoping to make the most of Chelsea’s desperation, Thilo, who worked under Thomas Tuchel at PSG, was offered to them this summer. Kimpembe is among the priorities for the Blues. Chelsea are in negotiations with the Parisians for the signing of Presnel Kimpembe, and it stays to be seen if those negotiations lead to anything fruitful.
