Chelsea are keen on completing a deal for Rafael Leao before the transfer window shuts down and are considering a bid worth €120m. But Milan value the 23-year-old forward at nearly €150m. The German coach is keen on bolstering his front line before the summer window closes, and he has identified Leao as an ideal option.
However, the Rossoneri are not keen on selling their forward this late in the window, and the Blues will have to pay well over the odds to tempt the Serie A giants. Rafael has been a crucial figure for the Italian club over the past year and was crucial to their Serie A title win last campaign.
Portugal international scored 14 goals and picked up 12 assists across all tournaments, and there is no doubt that he could be a quality acquisition for Chelsea. The Blues have managed to offload the likes of Lukaku and Werner after underwhelming individual seasons in 2021/22, and they are in desperate need of goalscoring reinforcements.
Chelsea signed Sterling from Man City, but the Englishman is not a reliable goalscorer, and someone like Leao could improve the squad in that aspect. Furthermore, it seems highly unlikely that the Blues will sanction a €150m outlay on the footballer at the stage of the window.
It is fair to assume that any move for Rafael Leao will have to wait until next summer at the very least. But if it goes through this summer, the London giants will only table a maximum offer of €120m.
