Chelsea are leading the race to land in-demand Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, a target for Liverpool, at the end of the campaign. Ecuador international has only established himself as a mainstay at Amex in the ongoing 2022/23 season.
Since arriving from Independiente del Valle for £4.5m in winter last year, Caicedo has scored two goals and provided two assists in 26 games across all tournaments for the Seagulls.
An all-action box-to-box midfielder and a ferocious tackler, Moises initially broke into Brighton’s first-team picture in the second half of the last term after returning from a short-term loan stint at Beerschot.
Replacing the outgoing Bissouma at the base of Brighton’s engine room, the 21-year-old midfielder has started all 14 of his team’s PL matches in the current campaign. The Ecuadorian midfielder also had a fantastic World Cup despite his nation being knocked out at the group phase itself.
The South American midfielder played in every minute of Ecuador’s campaign, and his consistent showings for El Tri on the world’s biggest stage will have only solidified the interest Europe’s premier teams already had in signing him. It’s no wonder that Liverpool and Chelsea are chasing after his signature.
The London giants, for one, have the Ecuadorian very high on their list of transfer targets. With Jorginho and Kante out of the deal next summer, the Blues are said to be keen to delve deep into the transfer market for top young midfield prospects.
