Chelsea eyeing move for former Everton midfielder

Having already taken his very first Chelsea training session, manager Thomas Tuchel wants the Blues stars to have an understanding of his tactics.

He was on the bench for the match versus Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night, and that gave him a reasonable idea straight away as to which areas he may be keen to strengthen in.

The German does not have long in this window to bring in new faces, but that will not stop him going back to his old club, Paris Saint Germain, to test the waters.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mirror, Thomas is looking to bring Idrissa Gueye back to the English top-flight.

The holding midfielder was signed for the Parisians by Tuchel in a £27 million deal with Everton, and given that the Senegal international hasn’t really made his mark at the Parc des Princes outfit this season, he will certainly jump at the chance to reignite his career under his former coach.

The west Londoners need cover at the very least in that zone of the pitch, however, Idrissa is hardly likely to move to the London-based heavyweights unless he knows he will be the first choice.

In other news, It was recently claimed that Chelsea’s number one target is Erling Haaland. Thomas Tuchel’s arrival does not change that.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has backed up this information on The Si Phillips Talks Chelsea Podcast.

He’s stated that while Chelsea are interested in the attacker’s services they are not the only ones.

Which is of no real surprise for the Blues supporters. It means any real attempt to bring the Norwegian in would be entering a ‘long and hard’ hunt.
