Chelsea are in pole position to sign Milan winger Rafael Leao. The London giants might take the lead in the chase for Portugal international, with the Rossoneri still desperate to extend his deal.
The 23-year-old winger is a crucial figure for Milan and proved his worth by helping the Rossoneri win the Serie A title. Leao was subsequently named the MVP in the league, which says a lot about his contributions to Milan. Things have been a bit different this campaign, as Rafael continues to struggle for form.
The visible dip in his displays occurred after the FIFA World Cup. It also coincided with the Rossoneri completely dropping out of the title challenge. The Rossoneri will hope the Portuguese forward recovers and finds his best form to help the team finish in the top four.
The Rossoneri are also hoping he signs a new contract, which until now has not progressed beyond their last offer. Milan reportedly offered the Portuguese attacker a new deal worth €6.5m. The proposal was reportedly deemed insufficient by the Portuguese and his entourage.
