Chelsea are believed to be in negotiations with Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg over a potential deal to sign Leandro Paredes, the latest reports say.
According to an Italian national sports newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the Blues have identified both Leandro and Nicolo Barella as potential replacements for Spanish star Cesc Fabregas.
The Spaniard is expected to join AS Monaco in the near future and Chelsea are looking to act rapidly to get a replacement signed.
Paredes is a player that the Blues have been aware of for a while. The Argentine star was linked with a move to West London when he left AS Roma, but he opted to join the Russian outfit instead of a move to the EPL.
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is believed to be suitors of both players and landing one of the two would soften the blow of seeing Cesc head to Monaco.
It has been stated that Sarri himself was not particularly pleased to be losing the former Barcelona midfielder, so has demanded an immediate successor to avoid being left short in the middle of the park.
