The EPL giants Chelsea have held negotiations with highly-coveted La Liga side Sevilla central defender Clement Lenglet, according to French weekly magazine France Football as quoted by Get French Football News.
The 22-year old Sevilla star has been linked with a host of top clubs in the latest weeks. As well as Chelsea, Real Madrid and Arsenal have both made enquiries in the last few days, while Manchester United and Barcelona are also in systematic contact with Lenglet’s representatives.
However, Chelsea appear to have entered the hunt, with French outlet reporting that the Blues director Marina Granovskaia held a meeting with Clement’s agents over discussing personal terms.
Frenchman signed for Sevilla previous January from Nancy in his native France and has made an impression in La Liga, making over 50 matches in all competitions for the club last campaign, scoring on four occasions and picking up just one assist.
The Spanish club only paid €5 million for the centre-back, but after his 18 months in La Liga so far, he will surely demand a much higher sum if he does secure a summer move.
