West Ham United are going to have to deal with a constant interest in Declan Rice. That is the view of former Hammers midfielder Jack Wilshere, who has also mentioned their ability to keep hold of England international in the summer as a massive positive for their campaign.
Declan joined the Hammers after leaving the Blues as a youngster and was tipped by some to transfer back to west London as Frank Lampard went on a huge spending spree around Europe. Following those links, David Moyes and his team will be delighted that Declan has stayed put.
Wilshere said: “I have said it before how much I rate him as a player and how much I enjoyed playing with and training with him and being around him. It is very important for West Ham that they kept him there this year.”
David Moyes has played the 21-year-old midfielder in both the centre of defence and midfield during his second spell at the club, and he stated in June that he is their best footballer in both positions.
Frank Lampard said when asked about the Englishman last month: “Again they are rumours, I can’t talk about these things. When players are ours it’s not my position to speculate on what may be, and it’s the same on the other side from players from other clubs. And I’ll continue that way.”
