Chelsea have reportedly already in talks with Atletico Madrid over a deal for Saul Niguez.
The La Liga defending champions are believed to be open to selling the 26-year-old this summer, with Spaniard starting 22 of Atletico’s 38 games en route to the 2020-21 Spanish top-tier title.
Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Man Utd are all supposedly in the hunt for Saul’s services, however, the Blues are believed to have stolen a march on their rivals in the race for the playmaker.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the West London club have contacted Atletico over the possibility of a summer deal for Saul, however, the Colchoneros’ price tag could prove to be a stumbling block.
The report claims that it would take a fee of £68.8m to prise Saul away from the Wanda Metropolitano – a price that Thomas Tuchel’s side are not willing to fork out while they prioritise a top-class centre-forward.
Saul’s current deal at Atletico does not expire for another five years, however, his struggles last season led to him being left out of Spain’s Euro 2020 team.
Chelsea managed to claim the Champions League tittle after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and Abramovich is expected to splash money to strengthen his team for the next campaign to repeat the same scucess.
