Chelsea have made official contact with Gonzalo Higuain’s representative about the possibility of a summer transfer, according to reports in Italian media.
The Blues evidently approached Nicolas Higuain, Gonzalo’s agent and brother, to get an understanding of his availability.
Juventus star was cited earlier this week, saying that the EPL is ‘the most attractive league in the world’, which raised a few eyebrows between the Chelsea fanbase.
Having sold Spain international Diego Costa, Chelsea brought in his compatriot Alvaro Morata but the Spaniard didn’t set the world alight at the Blues, and he’s already being connected with a move to Juventus.
If Alvaro does fancy a switch back to the Italian giants, some type of swap deal involving Gonzalo could well be on the cards.
Quite how that would work regarding finances remains to be seen as the Argentina international is five years older than Alvaro, but he has a better track history concerning goalscoring than the Spaniard.
This season, in all competitions (Serie A, Champions League, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa TIM), Gonzalo Higuain has made 50 appearances, netted 23 goals and provided eight assists.
