Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson has revealed why he turned down a move to Chelsea in the summer transfer market.
The Brazilian star has claimed that he chose the Reds over Chelsea as he wanted to be playing Champions League football.
The Blues missed out of Europe’s top competition the previous season and having been playing in the Europa League under Italian manager Maurizio Sarri.
Anfield outfit, meanwhile, were in the final of the UCL in 2018 and have progressed through to the last 16 this season. Speaking to Gianluca Di Marzio, Alisson Becker said this:
“I chose Liverpool for the same reasons why I had chosen Rome when I left Brazil, considering it as the best move for my career Chelsea was changing the coach and not playing in the Champions League.
“I have always admired Liverpool’s history, it is a club that has won five European Cups I wanted to be part of that history.”
“With Roma and I’m working hard to try and do it with Liverpool. What is life if not to fight for one’s dreams? I dream of the Champions.”
Serie A giants Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj has been offered to La Liga side Atletico Madrid, despite interest from Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea, football news website Calciomercato.com reports.
The Albanian star had been linked with a switch to West London, which would have seen the star follow both former teammate Jorginho and former manager Maurizio Sarri to the British capital.
Maurizio is reported to be very eager to sign a new full-back for his squad, having inherited a less-than-complete roster from compatriot Antonio Conte.
Calciomercato.com report states that Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta has proposed the idea of signing Elseid to manager Diego Simeone, and is ready to make a move for the star should he get the green light.
The familiarity of the one-time Empoli man with Sarri is supposedly set to give the west London heavyweights the advantage over Atletico Madrid in their pursuit of Albania international.
Making 18 matches in all competitions for his club thus far this season, there are few right-backs in the world football who can claim to be of a similar level to the 24-year-old star.
The Premier League giants Chelsea’s president Roman Abramovich is reportedly pushing to conclude a £100 million deal to land Serie A side Inter Milan striker and captain Mauro Icardi, the recent reports say.
According to the latest reports from the Mirror, the Blues owner is keen to bring the Argentine striker to Stamford Bridge, with negotiations over a new deal in Milan continuing to stall.
Mauro’s long-term future at the San Siro has been a point of discussion for a while, with reigning European champions Real Madrid also known to be admirers.
Inter Milan’s early exit from the Champions League this campaign cast further doubts over how long the star will remain at the club.
Italian boss Maurizio Sarri is eager to land a striker this month, with Spanish striker Alvaro Morata facing a bleak future at West London.
Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson and Juventus loanee, currently AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain have both been heavily connected with a move to London, but any potential deal for the former Sampdoria player would almost surely be the most expensive out of the three.
