Chelsea news round-up: Spaniard attracting suitors, Blues to open talks with star, in-form star on radar

Chelsea £156,000-a-week midfielder also attracting attention from Spain

AC Milan and Inter Milan have reportedly been joined by La Liga outfit Sevilla in their reported pursuit of Chelsea creative midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

The 31-year-old star will see his current Blues deal expire at the end of the campaign, which unsurprisingly has raised question marks about his future at Chelsea with no immediate public suggestion a renewal is in sight.

As noted by tabloid newspaper The Sun, both Milan sides have been paired with making a swoop, whether that is a potential cut-price deal in January so Blues avoid losing Spaniard for nothing or indeed on a free transfer when his deal runs down next summer.

However, as noted by Calciomercato, the Spanish club are also now said to be interested in the experienced midfield and so it remains to be seen whether or not a return to La Liga is more tempting than a new challenge in Serie A.

Although there is of course still time for Cesc to pen a new deal with Blues, the fact that Maurizio Sarri signed Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho this past summer, the latter on loan, coupled with the likes of Ross Barkley and N’Golo Kante who have featured prominently thus far this season, it remains to be seen where Cesc fits in the pecking order.

Chelsea willing to tie £22.5m-rated South American star down to new deal

Chelsea are prepared to enter into negotiations with Brazil international David Luiz over a new contract, according to recent reports from the British press.

The 31-year-old central defender was virtually discarded by Italian tactician Antonio Conte the previous season after he criticised the Italian manager’s tactics as a result of a heavy Champions League defeat at AS Roma.

Luiz was officially sidelined with a knee injury and made his final match under Conte in a damaging 4-1 thrashing at Watford in February.

The one-time SL Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain star was subsequently left out of Brazil’s World Cup team but has been given a new lease of life under Antonio’s successor Maurizio Sarri.

In spite of switching to a four-man defence, David has been an ever-present this campaign and started each of Chelsea’s five Premier League games thus far, playing a key role in his side’s 100% start.

Luiz has just under a year remaining on his current deal but, according to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea are interested to secure the long-term future of the experienced centre-back before the January transfer window opens.

Premier League rivals £16m-rated striker reportedly targeted by Chelsea

The Premier League and UCL giants Chelsea are eyeing up a move for the league rivals Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic in the January transfer window, according to the latest reports.

The British daily tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror reports that Chelsea are considering a swoop for Mitrovic in the next transfer window as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Mitrovic joined the Cottagers in the summer from Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of £22 million.

This came after Aleksandar spent the second half of the previous season on loan to Fulham in the EFL Championship.

The striker netted 12 times in 15 EFL Championship appearances as he helped his team to earn promotion to the Premier League.

Since their promotion, Aleksandar Mitrovic has netted four top-flight goals in five matches and has heavily impressed.

The west London giants have seen 24-year-old star’s form for Fulham during the course of 2018 and are considering an offer.

The report also states that some teams in Serie A are tracking Aleksandar ahead of possible moves for Serbia international striker.
