Chelsea ready to sell 27-year-old playmaker in January

Chelsea would reportedly be willing to sell English playmaker Ross Barkley for £14m during the upcoming transfer window in January.

The 27-year-old playmaker has played eight games for the West London club during the 2021-22 season and has featured in three of his side’s last four Premier League games.

Barkley is down the pecking order at the West London club, though, and he has been rumoured with a move away ahead of the winter window, with the playmaker’s current deal set to expire in June 2023.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, the Blues are prepared to sell the 27-year-old playmaker in January providing that they receive an offer of £14m.

Konur reports that Leeds United, Burnley and Newcastle United are all interested in signing the ex-Everton midfielder during the winter transfer window.

Barkley, who spent last campaign on loan at Aston Villa, has found back of the net 11 times and provided 11 assists in 94 games for the Blues since arriving from Everton in January 2018.

Meanwhile, Contract talks between Andreas Christensen and Chelsea have allegedly reached an impasse because of a lack of contact between the two sides over the last two months.

The Dane star has been a key figure under the German manager Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, but his existing deal at the west London side is due to expire next summer.

Having failed to reach an agreement over fresh terms thus far, Andreas can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign teams from January 1.
