Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea are poised to make a £50 million offer for Paris Saint-Germain centre-forward Edinson Cavani this month, reports say.

According to a daily national tabloid newspaper The Express, Chelsea are prepared to make their first swoop for Cavani as they look to strengthen their strike force.

With Alvaro Morata looking set to depart in the coming weeks, Chelsea want to replace Spaniard with a goalscorer to kick-start their campaign and secure their top four finish.

The report states that Maurizio Sarri is a massive fan of Cavani and wants him to lead the line at West London.

Cavani has netted goals throughout his career, with 324 goals in 519 senior matches, and is currently enjoying life in the French capital.

The 31-year-old star has netted 10 goals in 10 Ligue 1 games, with 126 in 175 games in the division for the Parisians.

Morata, meanwhile, has netted five goals in the Premier League this campaign and managed nine in 24 in all competitions.

Beside South American striker, the west London heavyweights are also pursuing other attacking options: AC Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain and Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson are on their wishlist.
