Chelsea reportedly leading race for £80,000-a-week attacking midfielder

Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir is one of the hottest players in European football.

France international caught the eyes of clubs from all over Europe in the 2017-18 season, and Liverpool were on the brink of landing him in a £53 million deal in the summer.

However, doubts regarding the World Cup winner’s knees meant that Reds pulled out of the negotiations at the eleventh hour, in spite of having interviewed Nabil for the club website and photographed him in a home shirt.

Supposedly now out of the running for the Les Gones star, reports have suggested the west London giants are now in pole position to land the 25-year-old playmaker.

Maurizio Sarri’s side are not alone in their interest of Nabil, however. German giants Bayern Munich would also like to add the attacking midfielder to their squad.

With the heavyweights of European football, including Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich set to compete for the services of Algerian-French star, Chelsea may have to flex all of their financial might to bring the star to Stamford Bridge.

This season, in all competitions, the French club’s academy product has netted 4 goals and provided 4 assists in 10 appearances so far.
