European heavyweights Chelsea will be forced to pay in the region of €120m if they want to land Liga NOS giants Benfica prodigy Joao Felix.

Portuguese side’s official Twitter account confirms that the player has put pen to paper on a fresh deal with Benfica and his release (buy-out) clause has doubled from €60 million to €120 million as a result.

Joao Felix has been heavily connected with a move to the west London club after reports identified him as Italian manager Maurizio Sarri’s ‘dream signing’.

Benfica have been interested in getting the ace’s long-term future secured amid increased interest from Ligue 1, Serie A and Premier League, including Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham United and Manchester United.

Some of Europe’s biggest sides are interested in signing the sensation, who is widely regarded as Aguias’ best young prospect. Felix has been ever present in the senior-team squad this season.

Interest in Joao is only likely to grow in the coming months, but Portuguese side will be boosted by the news that any possible suitors will be forced into forking out huge fees of money for his services.
