Dennis Wise thinks that Chelsea need to add different clinical goal-scorer to their squad in the January transfer window if they are to confront for the trophy again.
Antonio Conte’s players were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday midday as they fell considerably behind leaders Manchester City.
Chelsea are third in the Premier League table and 16 points behind current leaders Manchester City, who have so far only lost two points this terms.
Chelsea were the Premier League’s top acting team last term as they won the title in style in Conte’s first season in charge at the club.
However, former Chelsea star Wise feels that the west London team have some critical work to do support their team to challenge for the title again.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Saturday, Wise said: “They need someone who will get them 20 or 25 goals a season.
“Maybe two of them who are going to do that to then play with Man City. They haven’t got too many of them who can score numbers of goals.”
Chelsea, who meet Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League, will now look to return to winning habits when they entertain Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
The Blues are forced to be linked with a multitude of players in the coming weeks as the January transfer window gives Conte with the opportunity to bolster his team.
