Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that Napoli are interested in seucring the services of Arsenal centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
With the North London club having secured services of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba Greek defender has been informed that he can depart from the Emirates Stadium ahead of the next season.
At a time when Serie A giants are open to cashing in on Kalidou Koulibaly, De Laurentiis has revealed that he is open to start negotiations with Arsenal centre-back.
De Laurentiis is quoted by Il Napoli Online as saying: “We are working on signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Arsenal, we consider it an option.”
Regarding potential exits from Stadio San Paolo, he added: “When there are important offers, we will sell.”
Sokratis has played 44 games in the English top-tier during his two years at the Emirates Stadium, but considering the competition at the backline Greek defender is likely to depart from the club ahead of the next season.
Despite missing out on top-four finish last season Mikel Arteta has done an excellent job at the Emirates Stadium with transfer window still open Spaniard plans to make additions in order to compete for Champions League football next campaign.
