Chelsea have finally announced signing of German midfielder, Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 21-year-old who has been on the radar of hosts of top European teams has decided to make a switch to Stamford Bridge, the Blues have paid £70m for his services and he will stay at the club until 2025.
Earlier today Kai Havertz has left the Germany national teams training camp to undergo a medical and finalise a transfer to Stamford Bridge, putting pen to paper on a contract which will keep him at the club for the next five year.
“I am very happy and proud to be here, For me it is a dream come true to play in a big club like Chelsea and I can’t wait to meet all the players and the trainers. Yeah, I am very happy to be here!” Havertz told the club’s official website.
Director Marina Granovskaia added: “Kai is one of the best players of his age in world football, so we are very happy that his future lies at Chelsea.
“He has proven pedigree in one of the best leagues in Europe, he plays for the German national side and he is an exciting, dynamic talent. We are delighted to be able to add his versatility and quality to the squad before the season begins.”
The arrival of German playmaker, which is believed to fall just short of the Blues record buy, takes their spending to more than £250m already this summer.
Chelsea thus far have signed: Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr, Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Xavier Mbuyamba.
