Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United have joined the race to land league rivals Arsenal central midfielder Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window, according to a report.
A local, free daily newspaper The London Evening Standard reports that Manchester United and Liverpool are set to battle each other to secure Aaron Ramsey’s signature.
Ramsey’s current contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the campaign and the club are not prepared to offer Welshman a new deal.
Reds and Red Devils are now planning to take advantage of this by making a cut-price move for the midfielder – offering Arsenal a transfer fee instead of them letting star leave on a free.
Manchester United made a similar move for Chile international star Alexis Sanchez last season, offering Henrikh Mkhitaryan in exchange for former Arsenal player, who was set to leave on a free at the end of the season.
Ramsey scored in Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Fulham at the weekend and has made over 300 matches for Arsenal in all competitions.
This term, in all competitions, the 27-year-old star has made 9 appearances, scored one goal and provided 3 assists for the north London giants.
