Man United ready to listen to offers for Phil Jones this transfer window. England international currently has two years left on his deal at the Theatre of Dreams, but the Red Devils are set to terminate that contract in an attempt to help the defender find a new team this transfer window.
It has put several teams on red alert, with West Ham United and Everton joined by Newcastle United, whose manager Steve Bruce is a huge admirer of Jones. Phil is also courted by other Premier League teams like Southampton, Brighton and Crystal Palace.
Deemed as surplus to the requirements by the Norwegian manager, the 29-year-old defender hasn’t featured in a single PL game since the start of 2020 due to injury and fitness issues.
It appears the English centre-back is ready to make way for Raphael Varane, who is on the brink of joining the Red Devils, a move that will hugely change the dynamics of Man United’s defensive unit.
However, Phil’s decline at Man United hasn’t deterred teams like Everton, who are hoping to add more reinforcements at the defence this transfer window.
New manager Rafael Benitez is desperate to add more competition for the current crop of defenders, with the Englishman becoming the perfect option due to his vast experience at the highest level of football.
Jones is not the Toffees’ only option, though, with the Merseyside club reportedly eyeing a swoop for Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral. It gives the Hammers a perfect chance to make a better case for being Phil’s preferred destination, as West Ham United can offer more playing time.
