Trent Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of the best right-backs in world football.
It’s incredible to think what he’s already achieved in his career so far.
He’s played in two Champions League finals – winning one of them – and is a world champion. He’s also set to become a Premier League winner.
On an individual level, he made last season’s PFA Team of the Year, was the Golden Boy runner-up and was a Ballon d’Or nominee.
Not bad for a 21-year-old.
Despite all of that, there are still doubts regarding his best position.
Does his future really belong at right-back or are his talents better suited in midfield?
Imagine how many more assists he could get playing slightly further up the pitch.
Meanwhile, the one criticism aimed at him is that he’s perhaps isn’t as solid defensively as he should be.
So is midfielder the perfect position for him?
Well, it’s a theory that certainly divides opinion.
However, footage has now emerged of Alexander-Arnold playing in midfield that can help make up your mind whether you believe the scouser is actually better off in the middle of the park.
YouTube channel ScoutNationHD has published clips of Alexander-Arnold playing in midfield for various Liverpool youth sides.
Often seen wearing the No.6 or No.7, the 10-minute video shows him running with the ball and creating chances of his teammates.
He’s often seen playing more towards the right side of the pitch which means he can still whip in those incredible crosses of his, while he’s also licensed to cut inside and exploit the space created for him.
It may only be youth football but Alexander-Arnold certainly does seem to be enjoying himself in midfield.
